*Technical Products, Inc. (TPI) conducted instrumented pull tests on all products provided to us in a Class 2/3 Soil (medium sand/gravel). After the anchor was installed as per instructions an increasing load was applied orthogonal to the long axis of the anchor until the anchor failed as demonstrated by a sudden decrease in load bearing capacity. Each anchor was tested three times and results averaged. The test results are summarized in the table below. It is our professional opinion that in more cohesive and dense or better compacted soils this load bearing capacity will increase.

    3" Bullet Anchors

    The anchors went into the ground fairly easily. The biggest issue that we had was the steel rod used to pound them into the ground has a tendency to get stuck inside of the hollow cavity of the anchor making it very challenging to get the rod out for use on the next one. My recommendation to those looking at buying these is to think about bringing a bumper jack or similar set up to lift the steel rods out of the ground. It will not stick each time but when it does, be ready to get worn out.

    I can not speak to the holding capacity of the anchors at this time as everything was just installed recently. TIme will be the true test.

    I gave 4 stars vs 5 mainly because of the effort required to pull the rod out. Additionally, I couldn't help but wonder whether the cable was actually thick enough to hold a heavy deer blind in place but, again, time will tell that.

    Pros:
    -Easy to install
    -Thimble loop is pre-made
    -Quality

    Cons:
    - Can be hard to pull rod from bullet and the earth
